Starting a home based business.

Many people have started to look at a home business but have stopped their due diligence after reading a negative comment from someone who has tried the business and not succeeded. The usual response to such complaints is why would you listen to someone who has a chip on their shoulder, who has failed. But my mother always said there are two sides to every story. I believe that we have to understand the nature of the business model to fully understand. Generally speaking, a franchise or bricks and mortar business has a much higher startup cost. The direct marketing business has much lower startup costs and because of this, there are some people who enter the business, who may not have the skill or inclination to mentor people and show them how to run a successful business. Lets face it, not everyone in this business has a servant heart, a mentor attitude.

Thats why when you start a home business , there are really two relationships to look at. Lets call them the Macrorelationship and the Microrelationship. The Macrorelationship is your relationship between you and the larger networking company. A networking company needs a strong policy regarding compliance to ethical business practices.

Just as important, or perhaps more importantly, is the microrelationship. Generally speaking, this is the relationship between you and the person who introduces you to the business. This relationship is crucial to your success. As well as mentoring you and showing the ropes of the business, there should should be strong systems in place which include training and marketing.
