“An affirmation is a form of autosuggestion in which a statement of a desirable intention or condition of the world or the mind is deliberately meditated on and/or repeated in order to implant it in the mind.” Wikipedia.com .
Do affirmations work? If you are like most people, you use affirmations everyday. Many times, we use affirmations without realizing it. When you are talking to yourself, these are affirmations. We program ourselves. Sometimes consciously, sometimes not. How many times have you said “that was stupid”, or “I can’t do that”
Whether you think you can or think you can’t you are probably right and you are probably listening to yourself. Maybe more than you should. Its not the positive affirmations that you use, rather the negative ones, that you may be using without realizing. So what are you telling yourself?
Make a conscious effort to listen to yourself for the next 3 days. Anything you say that is negative, replace it with something positive. For example, you want to replace “I have so many bills.” You wouldn’t replace this with “I am a millionaire.” You just won’t believe yourself. Try instead ” I am following my budget and every time I pay a bill I increase my equity.”
Remember, “affirmation without action is the beginning of delusion” - Jim Rohn
