Personal Development Momentum

I was reading a post by Gary Ryan Blair called What Counts Most in his blog Personal Strategic Plan. Gary writes “Every choice must have a purpose. Every choice counts. There are no insignificant choices, no neutral actions. Even the smallest gesture has a consequence, leading you toward or away from your goals .”
Sometimes its easy to forget that each small discipline , each small choice, accumulates. Its easy to say “just one won’t hurt” or “I can do it tomorrow”. And each choice you make, carries a momentum with it. Ever notice its easier to not go to the gym today, if you didn’t go yesterday? And each choice, carries a contagion factor, affecting other disciplines. If you miss the gymn on Tuesday, its easier to grab fast food Tues night.
Jim Rohn writes ” All disciplines affect each other. Mistakenly the man says ‘This is the only area where I let down. Not true. Every let down affects the rest. Not to think so is naive.”
But you can also use this contagion factor to build personal development momentum. When you go to the gymn on Tuesday, its easier to choose a healthy dinner Tuesday night. And each choice can accumulate for the better. Go to the gymn on Tuesday and you have gone once, but go Tues Frid & Mon and you are on a roll.
Personal development momentum is small choices leading to great personal development habits.
